About Me

Hello, my name is Cherish!

I was born in Western Australia and started drawing as soon as I could 'hold a pencil'. When I moved to Tasmania, I fell in love with the native wildlife here and would draw and paint them whenever I had spare time. I am mostly 'self-taught' and enjoy learning from trial and error.

A couple of years ago I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia and two types of arthritis after spending most of my life in pain and unable to do what normal children my age were doing. I am so grateful to be able to do art, knowing that I will have to live with this disability for the rest of my life. Art brings me such joy and relief from my constant pain.

My work has been shown in multiple art exhibitions around Tasmania, including some competitions in which I won awards for my pieces. Exhibitions such as ‘Art and Soul' (2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014), ‘Bruny Island Bird Festival Exhibition' (2014), ‘Royal Hobart Show – Artery Art on Show' (2014 - present), ‘Kingborough Art Prize' (2014 - present), and the 'New Norfolk Autumn Festival' (2016, 2017, and 2018).

While most of my artwork depicts wildlife or domestic animals, I also love to draw portraits and landscapes from time to time.
